Picture this. Through a miscalculation, you find yourself sleeping in a shed (okay, a chalet de nuit) in the car park of a sinister feeling French campsite. It's raining but somehow stiflingly hot. You've just had some awful family news and you're a long way from home. You remember this charity shop buy sitting in the boot of your car, start reading and suddenly, you are swept off to another place.

As an author, Tom Holt is pretty hit and miss ('Almost Human' I'm looking at you) but this one is a little delight. Reviewed on Amazon as an 'amusing and undemanding read', it's just the ticket for those moments when you just need a comfort read.

A collection of short stories from Woody Allen dating from the early seventies - he was consistently funny in those days. I bought his complete works today so would be happy to send this on to anyone who wants a decent bedtime book.
